Reaching and Teaching Teens to Stop Violence
The Reaching and Teaching Teens to Stop Violence curriculum provides information to raise awareness of existing violence in our communities and challenges social norms and expected behaviors that tolerate and perpetuate violence.
The curriculum is formatted for use in school settings; however, it can also be used in other settings (e.g., youth groups, after school programs, and churches).
Reaching and Teaching Teens to Stop Violence is available on CD or as a printed 315-page notebook divided into five units. Each topic can be presented individually or in conjunction with any other unit.
The units include:
- Unit 1: Sticks and Stones: Sexual Harassment
- Unit 2: Every 8 Seconds: Sexual Assault
- Unit 3: When Flowers Don’t Fix It: Dating Violence
- Unit 4: The Power of Equality: Healthy Relationships
- Unit 5: Toxic Scripts: Gender Violence
Each unit contains goals and objectives, sample lesson plans for various time amounts, an overview of the unit topic, a variety of activities, homework assignments, handouts, fact sheets, and suggested videos. The appendices include additional lesson plans, fact sheets, video guides and sample discussion questions, and supporting resources (i.e., books, videos, and websites).
